REPORTS ON TRAINING COURSES

(3) FY2013 2nd ICA/Japan Training Course on Fostering Core Leaders of Agricultural Cooperatives

The 2nd ICA/Japan Training Course on Fostering Core Leaders of Agricultural Cooperatives was conducted at IDACA for 26 days between March 17 and April 11, 2014.

A total of 11 people from 10 countries – Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam – participated in the training course.

Field study visits took the participants to Hiroshima Prefecture. They visited the Hiroshima Prefectural Union of Agricultural Cooperatives, JA Miyoshi, JA Hiroshima-Hokubu, JA ZEN-NOH Pearl Rice, Satake Co., Ltd., JA Koseiren Yoshida General Hospital, Hiroshima City Central Wholesale Market, etc. and underwent training centering on the JA Group’s initiatives such as the promotion of agriculture in mountainous areas and revitalization of local communities. The participants highly praised the case example in which the revitalization of local communities was being promoted by conducting various business activities centering on the JAs while facing serious problems such as aging and depopulation, explaining that it was very helpful in formulating their action plans.
